STOP 2 | Galapagos: Time flies when you are having fun!
5th Day! Tuesday: my full last day
Another day of work in the morning. We went taking care of the infesting plants in the morning. Blackberry can be pretty nasty as a matter of fact; they are responsible of suffocating all other plans: you little mother*****rs. We cleaned up a good bunch.
After lunch we went to town to watch Spain-Italy match – and to try to understand the postcards situation. With some other Italian volunteers we cheered at Italy's goal, while all Ecuadorians and other foreings were rooting for Spain.
The Project Galapagos crew picked us up there at 2:30 (right after Morata scored the 1-1 goal) to go to LoberĂa, a beach South of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno to clean-up the beach. We saw ugly black iguanas here as well as dead one, which seems kinda fake, but it was real
Judith had internet connection and we were able to cheer to Italy winning 4-2 at penalty scores. Once back I tried my last attempts for postcards / souvenirs. So there is no way to send postcards from Galapagos (or Ecuador in general) as "it was submitted for liquidation in May 2020" (source). There are not other systems, unless you rely on a private courier, which can be really expensive.
I was at home by 6PM and we went up to El Mirador to watch the sunset, and to celebrate Italy’s victory as well. PICS of sunset, Italy’s victory.
It was my farewell dinner, eventually, so even the coordinator William Puga came for dinner. We had dinner all together and spent some words, Patricia, the amazing host of the Reserva – made us Tacos, which were so good that I didn’t even take a pic of this, as I focused only on eating.
We then hit the town to have our famous Happy hours (3 drinks by 10 USD). We all boarded on a truck together and it was a painful experience for my knees :)
The Moaas waiters are so happy we go there almost everyday that gave us fried plantains as a courtesy. We ended the day walking and talking, drinking and smoking and I offered the last drink to the fellas.
Also Saleem and Paolo, an Eduadorian and a US guy respectively, not part of our project, but that we got to meet, joined us.
