STOP 10 | Belize: snorkeling with the sharks in the Caribbean, eating lobsters + the Blue Hole

Dedicated to the Choices, that add salt in our lives. And to the Mistakes, who affect us inside, deeply sometimes. And as Lucifer would say: "Fate is just a result of the choices that you make"

Day 5

Day 5 was a travel day, we left our hotel at around 9 for a couple of hours drive till Belize City, to get our water taxi directed to Caye Caulker. We had lunch after arriving and then we went for an orientation walk.

We just spent the second part of the day watching sunset and seeing people feeding sting-rays and pelicans.

Day 6

Let's say the this day was memorable. And it was memorable because I discovered a lot of things I was not aware of before. Belize has the second biggest Barrier Reef worldwide, and is unique in many ways. And many people came here just for this reason, except me, who needed to go back to the United States somehow and wanted a possible tourist location to re-enter my second home. Anyhow, today we went on a Snorkeling Boat Tour doing, eating lobster for lunch, swimming with the sharks and watching the sunset. And obviously I had my friend anxiety with me, till the moment I entered the water. But let's proceed slowly. This was our boat and you can see us seated ready to sail in the following picture.

I didn't bring my GoPro, so I don't have many pics, but we did 3 45-min snorkeling stops, to explore the reef with masks and flippers. We saw manatees, turtles, barracudas and tons of other fish I can't remember the name. But probably the most amazing part was briefly snorkeling with the sharks (nurse sharks): this made my day!

Between our 2nd and 3rd stops, we had lobster for lunch, with coleslaw and rice and bean. And before docking back the crew offered us ceviche - and the Italians proudly asked not to add cilantro.

Day 7

This was the last day before departure: according to Fidelio, our guide, it's a pretty slow day, however we were able to fill it with lots of fun. After getting a good - amazing - breakfast at Ice & Beans we headed to the Covid-19 test center, to get our test to enter the United States (thankfully it was negative).

After that, I wandered around a bit with Laura - the fellow traveler who is a writer - trying to chase an ATM and buy some coffee. I was also looking for a barber as I was pretty indecent (pic on the left), but opening hours did not reflect properly online. While walking, Fidelio reached out as he found a barber who would come to my hotel for haircut and beard-trim. I immediately accepted and the result in on the right ☺

Then I headed to have e deep tissue massage which was just in the right moment: it was so relaxing. While walking back I could still feel the vibe of the island.

And then, it happened. Thankfully 3 of our group wanted to do the Blue Hole Flight - as we don't know if/when we are coming back to Belize and Fidelio was able to organize it for us. So we headed towards the tour operator first and the Caye Caulker airport.

Honestly I was a little bit scared and you can see my discomfort from below.

The flight was super smooth: we had great weather and no wind at all.

Seeing the Belize Barrier Reef from above was fabulous.

But more than that, seeing Him, his Majesty The Blue Hole.

Flying above the Belize Barrier Reef made me emotional, I realized how lucky I am for doing what I am doing right now. Made me realize that a different life is indeed possible and that the trickiest thing today is being free mentally.

The flight was about 1hour and this was our route, integrated with the map provided by captain Mark.

But the day was not ended yet! We celebrated our adventure with a fish kebab and some drinks, without forgetting coffee obviously.

and then we headed to a Beach Bar - The Lazy Lizard - to meet the other 3 travelers from our group and celebrate our last day with drinks.
